General information only. This is not legal advice. We are not attorneys and cannot tell you which forms or documents you need or what to put on them. Rules and forms change; confirm details with the official sources linked here.
Two kinds of documents
A Florida divorce involves court forms, which you complete and file, and supporting records, which back up the financial information. Exactly what applies to you depends on your situation, and only the court can say for certain.
Information people commonly gather first
- Full legal names and current addresses for both spouses
- Date and place of the marriage
- Names and birth dates of any children
- Employer information and recent income records
- A list of assets and debts
Financial records often used with the financial affidavit
Florida family court rules generally call for financial disclosure between spouses. People commonly collect:
- Recent pay stubs
- Recent tax returns
- Bank, credit card, and retirement account statements
- Mortgage, loan, and vehicle documents
The court's own instructions explain what is required and for how long back. Start with the Florida Courts family law forms index.
The Disclosure from Nonlawyer
When a nonlawyer helps prepare certain family court forms, Florida requires a written Disclosure from Nonlawyer (Form 12.900(a)). It is included when we help with divorce and family court paperwork.
Bring your ID to the signing
If a form must be notarized, every signer needs a valid government photo ID. Sign only in front of the notary.
We do not review your records or tell you whether you have the right documents. We can organize what you give us into a packet.
